Groundup eco-ventures' co-founder started experimenting with upcycling while holding down an office job in the oil and gas industry - in the mornings, he would leave buckets outside a downtown cafe to be filled with coffee grounds that he would take home with him at the end of workday. In many ways, it's an archetypical Alberta story - an innovation born of grit and DIY spirit.
