Uproot's savoury pies are inspired by diverse cuisines, among them the meat pie traditions of New Zealand, where they are commonly available and universally loved. One of our founding brands, South Island Pie Co. brought the Kiwi pie tradition to Alberta, and with great success has adapted it to Canadian tastes. Other traditions from other countries, such as Malaysia and England, are represented too, the common themes being great taste and fresh ingredients.
Consistent with many of Uproot's other products, there are often uniquely innovative limited editions produced for short periods of time. Don't let the "meat pie" fool you, either, delicious vegetarian pies are available!
The Tourtiere is a nice pie with flaky crust. It is the first time I have had this kind of pie with only ground pork. All the Tourtieres I have ever had came from French Canadians and were made with half ground pork and half ground beef. I much prefer this combination.
Honest Dumplings and South Island Pies are always the best supper or Lunch additions. Super easy to prepare and always tastes amazing. Defiantly a family favourite for us
