After leaving Mexico at age 19, owner and chef Carlos O'Farrill worked nights at restaurants throughout the US—honing his skills as a dishwasher and prep cook. During this time Carlos unearthed his passion for creating delicious food that everyone can enjoy.
He enrolled at Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Arts Institute and then landed a gig at a three Michelin-starred restaurant in California. Finishing this, he returned to Edmonton for work, and met his partner in business and in life, Janette Norwood, and in 2013 they started the casa12doce food truck together.
With the truck a booming success, they decided to open La Patrona restaurant so their customers could enjoy their wonderful, authentically Mexican dishes in a more comfortable atmosphere.
Now they are expanding their market again, selling their delicious salsas through the Uproot Collective and reaching extended family throughout Alberta.
